Why do we want to sleep more in winter?

Why do we get low energy in winter? It’s all due to a hormone called melatonin, which prepares our body for sleep.
In winter months the brain sees darkness and starts to produce this hormone earlier in the day – making us sleepy and drowsy.

What can we do to keep our energy up?
Thankfully a few things can help us keep energy high during the winter months

Power naps
We’ve designed the Hibernation soundscape to help you restfully sleep. Napping can markedly help the brain’s cognitive functions, whether in summer or winter. Take 20 mins to rest your eyes and mind.

Exercise
Even though it’s cold, exercise is important for keeping your energy high. Try taking the Move or Clarity Trip soundscapes on a long walk in the cold (wrap up warm!)

Food
The cold season also comes with lots of festivities and situations with high-sugar foods, which can wreak havoc on the body’s natural energy levels. Be mindful and try to keep some sort of balance between advent calendar treats.
